- Brown the butter until golden and fragrant.
- Stir in brown sugar, cream, and salt; bring to a boil.
- Cook until mixture thickens to soft-ball stage.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla, and beat until creamy.
- Pour into lined pan and let set before slicing.

- Watch butter carefully while browning
- Do not overbeat fudge
- Add nuts or sea salt if desired
