Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream or evaporated milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Brown the butter until golden and fragrant.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, cream, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Cook until mixture thickens to soft-ball stage.
  4. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and beat until creamy.
  5. Pour into lined pan and let set before slicing.

Notes

  • Watch butter carefully while browning
  • Do not overbeat fudge
  • Add nuts or sea salt if desired
