Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup butter softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Whisk dry ingredients.
  2. Beat butter, sugar, egg, molasses, and vanilla.
  3. Mix dry and wet ingredients; chill dough 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough, cut shapes.
  5. Bake 8–12 minutes at 350°F.
  6. Cool and decorate with icing.
