Ingredients
  

  • For the Cucumbers
  • 4 cups fresh cucumbers sliced into rounds or spears
  • 3 cloves garlic lightly smashed
  • 3 –4 sprigs fresh dill
  • For the Brine
  • 1 cup cold water
  • ½ cup white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar optional, for balance
  • Optional Add-Ins
  • ½ teaspoon black peppercorns
  • ¼ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds

Method
 

  1. Wash cucumbers thoroughly and slice them evenly into rounds or spears.
  2. Place cucumbers into a clean jar or container with a tight-fitting lid.
  3. Add smashed garlic cloves and fresh dill evenly throughout the cucumbers.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together water, vinegar, salt, and sugar until fully dissolved.
  5. Pour the brine over the cucumbers, making sure they are completely submerged.
  6. Cover the container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  7. For best flavor and crunch, let the garlic-dill-cucumbers rest overnight.
  8. Serve chilled directly from the fridge.

Notes

  • Fresh dill gives the best classic pickle flavor.
  • Sugar is optional and only balances acidity.
  • Keep cucumbers fully submerged for even pickling.
  • Best texture is within the first 3–4 days.
  • Do not store at room temperature.
