Ingredients
  

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 4 oz German or semi-sweet chocolate
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup shredded coconut
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Method
 

  1. Melt chocolate and butter; cool slightly.
  2. Whisk sugars, eggs, vanilla, cocoa, and salt.
  3. Stir in melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Pour filling into pie crust.
  5. Cook topping ingredients until thick; add coconut and pecans.
  6. Spread topping over pie and bake until set.

  • Toast coconut and pecans for extra flavor
  • Let pie cool fully before slicing
