Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Melt sugar over medium heat until amber.
  2. Whisk in butter carefully until smooth.
  3. Slowly add warm cream while stirring.
  4. Add salt and vanilla; simmer briefly.
  5. Cool slightly and store in a jar.

Notes

  • Caramel thickens as it cools.
