Orange Jam

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large fresh oranges
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup water
  • Optional Add-Ins:
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest for stronger flavor

Method
 

  1. Wash thoroughly. Peel and remove seeds. Chop the orange flesh into small pieces. For smoother jam, lightly blend.
  2. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, add oranges, sugar, lemon juice, and water. Stir well.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer 20–30 minutes until thickened.
  4. Place a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready. If not, cook a few more minutes.
  5. Pour hot jam into sterilized jars. Seal and let cool completely before storing.

Notes

  • Remove all seeds before cooking.
  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Jam thickens more as it cools.
  • Adjust sugar based on orange sweetness.
  • Store refrigerated up to 3 weeks or freeze for 3 months.
