Ingredients
  

  • For the Chicken:
  • 1 ½ lbs chicken thighs
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • For Garlic Sauce:
  • ½ cup mayo
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method
 

  1. Mix yogurt, oil, lemon, garlic, and spices to make marinade.
  2. Coat chicken well, cover, and marinate 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Cook on skillet, grill, or oven until golden and fully cooked.
  4. Rest chicken 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
  5. Mix sauce ingredients. Serve chicken in pita or bowls with sauce and veggies.

Notes

  • Thighs give best flavor and tenderness.
  • Add chili flakes for spicier shawarma.
  • Broil chicken for a smoky restaurant-style finish.
